38 Weeks.

Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs between 6 and 7 1/2 pounds (boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls), and she's nearly 20 inches long. She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

Boo-boo update.
I realized that I didn't give any update yesterday about my boo-boo. :P
Still no pain, it seems to have disappeared, and I have completely stopped with all pain medication!
The inflamed area started getting smaller little by little, and now it is a very tiny area that is hard. So, it is going away! Very releaved about that! This was just something I didn't want to have to deal with right now.. :/
I have had the worst heartburn since the pain went away.. :/ It disappeared when I got sick, and stayed away for those 3 weeks of horrible pain, and the first day that the pain started easing up - the heartburn came back threefold. Although I would rather have the heartburn than the pain... :P
Tomorrow I think we are going to do the window frame in the Baby's room.
Otherwise, the weekend has been pretty quiet so far.. :)
I have bursts of energy and get a little restless.
During the nights I have pretty intense pelvic pain and discomfort.
I feel like I have to pee every 5 seconds.
So... hoping that is a sign of things to come.. :)

Thai food.
Yesterday we went to the Thai food place in town. Their food is really good, but it isn't spicy enough for me. :/ :) So, yesterday Fredrik asked them if they could make it more spicy, and she said, "That we are good at." :)) They made it very spicy and it was absolutely delicious. :)))
I was so tired this afternoon so I ended up taking a 2½-3 hour nap.. :/ :)
Fredrik showed up for lunch and then he left to go do some more measuring in town. I went to sleep after he left and woke up when he came home.
And one of our furnaces is leaking.. :/
He turned the knob to get some heat in the office room, and then it started leaking water out of the knob.. :/ So.. It won't stop, so we are catching the water with towels and a bucket. He called a place in town, and the soonest they can come over is around 7 in the morning on Tuesday.. :/ They are completely swamped, and that was the soonest they could make it over.
Very annoying, but we hope it will be fixable without too much trouble.. :/ We are just guessing that because the house is so old, the knob is just tired.
I've had lots and lots of pelvic pain and cramping in my upper thighs the last couple of days.. :/ So, I'm hoping that the Baby is going to make an appearance soon.. :/ :) And more and more back pain..
So, keep your fingers crossed that Karl-Astrid will show up sooner than later.. :)
No word about the stroller.. :/ So, might have to call them and see if it is just sitting there or something..
Hmmm... *think*
Not that much happening.. We are mostly anxious and impatiently waiting for the Baby.. :)

Aftonbladet
A Giant Baby Born [difficult to translate :/]
Weighed over 15 pounds
When Tatjana Barabanova from Siberia was to give birth to her 12th child it was necessary to have a Caesarean section.
The operation was successful and the child, a daughter, came out prosperously - she weighed 17 pounds.
The nurses at the hospital in Barnaul, Russia and the new parents barely could believe their eyes when they saw the little - or big - baby.
"We were all chocked," says the mom Tatjana Barabanova, 43, to Reuters.
The daughter, who shall be named Nadja, weighed 17 pounds. The average weight for a newborn is 7 pounds, according to WHO.
The mom Tatjana confirmed that she didn't eat any special food to have such a big daughter.
"We don't have any money for special food, so I ate potatoes, noodles, and tomatoes," she said.
Her other children have all weighed over 11 pounds at birth.
But Nadja is not a record newborn. In the Guinness Book of World Records there is a 22.4 pound baby born in Italy in 1955.
[There is a picture of Nadja at the newspaper's link.]

Adorable clothes.
We received some cute clothes in the mail yesterday from Farmor and Farfar. :) Tack så mycket!

The cutest overalls. :) And on the inside it says "I love my mum." :)

Fredrik talked to the people about the computer and they will send a new one. When they bring it, we'll give them the one we have. Very annoying, but at least they are taking care of it without too much trouble.
Now Fredrik has just gotten home. :) Maybe we can make a quick trip to the grocery store. :) More soon.

Vecka 38
Week 38
Almost finished! The baby weighs 6-7 pounds and is 18 inches long. Only the placenta weighs 1½ pounds. You may have gained 25-29 pounds or more. It isn't entirely uncommon to have gained 44-55 pounds.
Rest and continue with carbohydrates. Remember that the baby is almost finished and that it is soon time...

No pain!!
For now at least. :)
I am very thankful. I really wasn't looking forward to the entire last part of the pregnancy with so much pain.. :/
I haven't taken my pain pill during the morning or day, but I still take it at night, just to make sure that I sleep okay. However, I hope to stop taking that, too, very soon. :)
The laptop showed up today! :)
I love it. :)
But there is a problem.. :/ 6 of the keys don't press down.. :/ Have to press very hard on them, so Fredrik tried calling, but they were closed of course, so he will call tomorrow, and see what they will do about it. So, we are figuring that we will have to send it back, and they will send a new one, or fix this one maybe. Very annoying. :/
Fredrik is doing well. He hopes to come home at lunch tomorrow, so that he can do some work in town.
The Baby is doing well. Kicking like mad.. :/ :) I have lots of pressure in my pelvic area. Always feels like I have to pee. Not sure if the Baby has dropped yet .. :/ Not really sure what it should feel like.. :/
Caesar is also doing well.. :) Getting fat and furry. :)
The weather is cold and rainy. :/ Been this way for awhile, and will probably stay rainy until it starts to snow.
Fredrik called Aina this evening, a very close family friend that lives down the street from the summer house. She lost her cat a little while back, she got run over by a car. :( Fredrik and I used to cat-sit for Aina everynow and then. We thought that maybe Aina can cat-sit Caesar while we are away this Winter. He knows her well (he saw her plenty when he was young) and it would really help us out a lot. She says she doesn't think it will be a problem but she'll give us a more definite "yes" when the time comes closer. :)
Received some adorable clothes from Farmor and Farfar today. :) I'll get those on tomorrow!
Law and Order is coming on soon! So, time to get ready for that. :)

38th Week of Pregnancy
How big is your baby?
Babies size vary around the last several weeks of pregnancy, but most likely your baby is between 17 and 20 inches (43-51 cm) long and weighs 6 ¼ to 7 ½ pounds (2,7-3,4 kg).
What is happening with your baby?
Your baby is continuing to grow, but the vast majority of his/her organs are mature and fully functioning. The only exceptions are his/her brain and lungs. These two organs are at a point that they will function outside of the womb, but will also continue to mature during childhood.
You may have an idea of what your baby will look like. Maybe you want your baby to have Aunt Ellen’s red hair, your partner’s green eyes, or your father’s long legs. You most likely will not be able to tell right away what color of eyes your baby will have unless they are brown. If they are brown there is a good chance they will stay that way. However, if your baby’s eyes are gray or blue, they can stay that way or turn green, hazel, or brown. Normally this occurs by the time your baby is nine months old.

Feeling great!
I'm feeling much better! The pain is keeping its distance for right now. (Which I hope it does for at least a little while.) I can function very well (although I'm still in a bit of discomfort), but Fredrik still won't let me go anywhere...... :P :)
I didn't get to watch CSI last night... :( There was the DIF-AIK game (2 rival Stockholm teams playing soccer).. so.. of course that was first priority.. :/ :) I can catch a rerun later in the week, so no problem.. :) But I did get to finish up the bags last night! I have a small duffel-bag suitcase, Fredrik has a few things in a bookbag, and the baby has its little bag. Packed everything except bathroom stuff.
And then after the game we hung-out in the baby's room for awhile, and discussed a few things..: size of rug to buy, things to finish up, things to buy, where to put stuff. Fredrik worked a little on trying to level furniture (since the floor is so uneven). It is better.. but the floor is so bad, that the drawers in the changing table just slide open... :/ :)) As long as it isn't so tilted so that Baby rolls off...... :D
Fredrik is much more upset about things that are wrong with the room than I am. And I try to tell him that we can only do as good a job depending on what we are given.. :/ If you have crooked and uneven walls, and hilly floors.. there is only so much you can do.. :/ :) With what it looked like before, and what it looks like now, I think he did a great job. :)
Before:

After:

Not finished of course.. :/ :) But it is still 100x better. At least the ceiling is now white.. :P
And the texture on the walls before ... You can't tell in the picture, but there was a nasty material under the paint that was touchy-feely and horribly nasty.. :/ And it made the paint feel and look like plastic.
I checked the shipping this morning, and the laptop is in Karlstad! :) So maybe it will show up today. :)
Fredrik came home 2 hours early yesterday.. :/ :) Surprised me. :)
He said that he needs to start learning to work from home, that they encourage it, that they know it makes their workers happier. So, he just has to start getting used to doing that. Which he really wants to get in the habit of doing now, since the Baby is coming soon. :)
And Fredrik told me that his boss told me to keep the baby in as long as possible...... :/ :D
Obviously they want to hire another guy to do some measuring (in the Mellerud area, I think? Not sure I remember correctly) and to be around to help Fredrik out when necessary, or take over while he is on pappa-leave, etc.. So, they want to hire him in and let him have time to work with Fredrik, to go over things, etc.. before Fredrik has to disappear for awhile.. *sigh* But they still haven't even decided if they are going to hire him yet.. *rolling eyes* :/ :)
Hmmmm.. *think*
Been a quiet couple of days.. or rather a quiet last few weeks.
Fredrik is buying stuff like mad for work. I think he really enjoys it. :/ :) It isn't often you get to go into a store, spend whatever you want, and send the bill to someone else.. :/ :))
But that is all for right now. :P

T-20 days.
Ugh.. :/ Having a horrible time getting comfortable in this chair... :/ :)
The pain is much less severe than it was in the beginning.
It still gives me plenty of discomfort, but I am able to function much more normally now.
I got my other pain pills, so now I have 12 pills a day! :) But now I don't have to use the gel (not necessary), and it was sticky and nasty to use anyways.. :/
I stopped drinking the liquid as well. I don't really think it was helping and it made me very nauseous and made me feel icky for the rest of the day.. :/ I haven't had it the last couple of days and I've felt much better.
I didn't take a nap yesterday, and by 21.00 I was almost falling over I was so tired.. :D But I slept very well last night. I didn't take a nap today, but I got in bed a couple of times and rested plenty.
The area is definitely getting bigger and harder. It itches and it is sorta stingy, so I know that it is progressively getting worse. My antibiotics end tomorrow. So, we'll see what happens after that. My temperature is still around normal. It jumped around a little last night, but it should average a little higher in the evenings anyways.
So, we'll see how long it takes before something has to be done about my boo-boo.
A little update, I guess, on how I am doing.
We are very pleased with the room. :) It isn't finished, but at least we have it better fixed in case Karl-Astrid decides to show up a little early. :)
We watched Spider-Man 3 tonight. Can't really say that we enjoyed the film.. :/ We complained plenty all the way through.. :/ :)
Caesar is sleeping, he stayed outside plenty today. He is extremely interested in the Baby's room.. I've caught him in the crib 2 times now..!
We forgot to shave Fredrik's head earlier today, so I think we are going to do that now. :)
Baby hasn't dropped yet.. :( (right now, I just hope he/she is still head-down!)
But Fredrik and the Baby had a tug-of-war fight tonight.. Fredrik would push and the Baby would push back (with its foot), and they went on like that until I made them stop because it was hurting my tummy... :/

Furniture.
The molding is finished! The door frames are finished, but all we need to do now is the window and I think we need another piece of molding for that.
So, to make the room look a little better, we moved in the furniture (also to clear up our hallway where all the Baby's furniture has been hanging out). Still plenty more we need to buy and fix and do, but we need a trip to Karlstad to do that, which we will take at the end of the month or the beginning of October, whenever our stroller shows up.
And we need to.. fix the furniture so that everything is a little more level. Which is also a problem for another day. :)

37 Weeks

Congratulations! Your baby is full-term! This means that if your baby arrives now, his lungs should be fully mature and ready to adjust to life outside the womb, even though your due date is still three weeks away. He weighs a little over 6 pounds (2,7 kg) and measures between 19 and 20 inches (48-51 cm). Many babies have a full head of hair at birth, with locks from 1/2 inch (1,27 cm) to 1 1/2 inches (3,81 cm) long. But don't be surprised if your baby's hair isn't the same color as yours. Dark-haired couples are sometimes thrown for a loop when their children come out as blonds or redheads, and fair-haired couples have been surprised by Elvis look-alikes. And then, of course, some babies sport only peach fuzz.

Pink bush.
One of the bushes in our yard is VERY pink.. :/ :) Not the most normal Fall color, but it is kinda pretty. :)

(That is our backyard btw.)
I had an excellent night last night! I slept very well, woke up on my own at 07.00. I was able to change position without too much trouble, and I was even able to sleep on my right side for once.
The horrible pain didn't show up last night like it normally does, and the pain during the day is much, much less now. I'm not sure why the pain is going away, but the inflamed area is getting bigger, or it is changing position.. :/ :)
I regularly take my temperature (before my pain pills, which reduce fever), and yesterday it was slightly above average a couple of times, 98.9 ºF (37,2ºC). But otherwise, it is staying pretty normal.
I would have done extremely well yesterday, but I was having some upper back pain on both sides of my back, under my shoulder blades. It was worse when sitting, but the pain would go away when I would lay on my side. Fredrik and I are thinking that it is because of my bad posture the last couple of weeks. I have to sit a little strangely to minimize the pain as much as possible. And he thinks that with my leaning slightly forward when I sit and then the added belly weight pulling me forward, that my back is very unhappy. So I am trying to work on that and it has been better.
My appetite is back a little!
But like I said, I think this is the calm before the storm.. :/ :) Because the hardened area is expanding a little every day, or it is migrating, either or... (Which I don't care about as long as the pain stays away - so I can function as close to normal as possible.)
Fredrik is going to eat some breakfast and then go do some measuring.
I'm washing a huge load of sheets. The dryer has a light on the inside when you open the door.. :/ :) Not sure that is entirely necessary, but it is nice. :)
I think Fredrik's plan for the day is try to finish up as much as possible with the molding in the Baby's room.. My main goal is to go through my hospital bags and finialize all that stuff. We've bought a few things to take to the hospital to munch, some juice boxes, etc ... Might try to pick up a few more things to throw into the cooler bag when the time comes.
Not sure there is that much else right now.. :/
I'm trying to deal with my.. illness and Fredrik is helping as much as possible.
The Baby was super quiet yesterday, but seems to have woken up a little today. :)

Not sure there is that much else right now.. :/
I'm trying to deal with my.. illness and Fredrik is helping as much as possible.
The Baby was super quiet yesterday, but seems to have woken up a little today. :)

Good days and bad days.
More like good days and bad nights.. :/
The days have been pretty manageable (the pain), and yesterday, I was doing fairly okay..
But the nights are horrific.
Usually always around 21.00 the pain gets so bad.. :/ So I sit as long as I can in a comfy place and wait for when I can take my pills, and then I go to bed. And I usually end up taking them early, because it takes 1-2 hours for the pain pills to start working.
And this morning isn't going so well.. :/
I had my normal wake-up-during-the-night-with-lots-of-pain episode.. Which I use the ointment and I can then usually fall back asleep pretty easily.
But I woke up this morning around 06.00 and the pain was very bad. And not in the area where you would expect it to be, but in my upper thigh.. :/ :( More like a cramping feeling..
So, I have taken my pills and I am trying to ignore it, hoping that it will start to feel better - then I am going to go get back in bed and sleep.
I nap at least once a day. I slept yesterday from 10.30-12. Usually the morning hours are easier, because I'm still tired from not getting any proper sleep that I should have gotten during the night.
I used the washing machine yesterday! :) They are very nice and quiet. :) And the clothes were clean! Without soap bubbles!!
The laptop is on its way! :) It is coming from Denmark, so it could show up any time I suppose (their guess is the 26th).
I ordered a very nice laptop bag, one that is a bit more feminine than the normal bags. :)
Fredrik is doing well. He is going to work a little tomorrow morning on the project here in town. So he doesn't have to drive far away, and he can catch up with some work. They pay him well on weekends, so can't complain too much. :)
Yesterday morning the inflamed area seemed like it was getting bigger and harder .. but in the afternoon, it seemed smaller and softer.. :/ So - it is playing games with me.. :/
I told Fredrik that the ease of yesterday was probably the "calm before the storm" --- although, like I said before, I really wouldn't mind if it did get really, really bad - so that something has to be done.
I keep taking my temperature, no where near a fever - if anything, a bit below average.
That is all for now.. :/ Going to try to go get comfy on the couch for a little while and let the pills start working and then try to eat some breakfast.
(I have 8 pills I have to take every day, not including my ointment and stuff I have to drink.) :/

37th Week of Pregnancy
What changes are occurring with your body?
If you have been measuring your uterus throughout your pregnancy, you may notice that there is little to no difference at this point. Most likely you will not notice any significant weight gain from this point on. Your total weight gain should be around 25 to 35 pounds (11-16 kg).
The amount of amniotic fluid begins to decline around 37 weeks. Braxton Hicks contractions also increase in frequency. As your body begins to prepare for labor, your cervix will begin to dilate and efface, and you will pass the mucus plug.
How big is your baby?
Your baby is most likely between 16 ½ to 19 ½ inches (42-49 cm) long and weighs 6 to 7 pounds (2,7-3,15 kg).
What is happening with your baby?
Even though by the end of this week your baby is considered full term, it is still better in most situations for the baby to remain in the womb until he/she signals that they are ready to come out.
If your baby has not turned and is not in the head down position, you should begin talking with your health care provider and partner regarding the various options that are available. There are several ways that babies can be turned. There are both natural techniques and medical techniques. Remember that breech presentations occur in about 1 in 25 full-term births.

Today instead of tomorrow.
Fredrik called around 15.15 and said that they would be coming within the hour..! Fredrik said that he would try to show up as soon as he could.
The guy took the old washing machine, but left the dryer, which we will take to the summer house. (At least I think the dryer is still downstairs.. :P I don't remember seeing it now that I think about it.)
I'm so anxious to use them! :) I haven't washed in a loooong time because of how bad the old appliances are and knowing that the new stuff would show up soon, so we have lots of clothes piled up... ;)
(They are wet on the outside because it is raining plenty..) :)
We were hoping to have fixed the room up a little better before having bought new ones, but we didn't have time. But we can do that later. :)
Expensive, but very needed - they have self-leveling feet!! :)

Tack så mycket!
Yesterday I received some beautiful Get-Well flowers from Farmor and Farfar. :) I love Fall colors and these are very cheerful. :)

Farmor and Farfar both have colds, as well as Mormor and Morfar, so all 4 are sick!
The woman that delivered the flowers talked.. quite a bit.. :) She was very friendly and went on and on about the house. She said she had looked at it (obviously when it was for sale) and she wanted it. And she couldn't stop saying how beautiful it is and special (different looking) and she kept trying to get as many peeks of the inside as possible. :/ :) We get this a lot, though, and we find it very flattering.
I actually managed to fix some dinner yesterday! It was a little difficult to stand, but I really wanted to do it. Yesterday evening was not a good night.. :/ Lots of pain, and I took my pills a little early and went to bed. During the night the pain got bad again, too, and it was hurting all the way around my leg and downwards.. :/
Right now I am having breakfast and waiting for my morning pain pill to start working. I have pre-breakfast when I first wake up.. :/ :) Which is always a banana and a glass of orange juice. But I have a feeling I am going to go take a nap, soon.. :/
Fredrik painted some wood pieces yesterday, and started fixing them in the room. He's done a really great job with the room. :) He's done it all himself (I definitely can't take any credit for it). I have some new pictures, but I will put those up a little later.
Not that much else is happening.. :/
Seems like Fredrik never works.. :D
Not sure he will be able to be here on Thursday when the appliances show up.. :/ He has an important meeting in Bengtsfors in the morning ... a more localized meeting of what he did in Göteborg.
Caesar is doing well. Getting fatter and fatter.. :) He is keeping me company plenty. He follows me around and sleeps where I sleep. :)
No update on when the laptop will show up. I'm looking forward to it now more than ever. So that I can lay in bed and accomplish things.. :/ :) Lots of people I need to get in touch with, but I can't sit at the computer for very long right now, so I use my time to write here. I've been using Caesar's pillow to take with me around everywhere to sit on (the Midwife found it amusing) - It is a pillow in the shape of a rat. :/ :) It has a tail, ears, and a nose, etc. But Caesar doesn't use it, so now it is mine. :) But even with the pillow it is still uncomfy in this chair.. :/ :) The most comfy place to sit is the sofa-bed ... extremely soft and cushy.. :))
Fredrik warned me that I should be prepared to live with this for a long time.. :/
The midwife said that they probably won't do any surgery on me in that area any time soon after delivery.. :( I was hoping to kill two birds with one stone, since I would already be in the hospital for a few days, and that is the best place to recover. It might take a very long time for this to develop into a full-blown abscess.. :( Which doesn't make me look forward to our trip to the US in December.. :/
Ehhh.. too depressing to think about that stuff.. :/ :)))
The Baby is going to town right now.. :/ :) When the Little One is active, it helps distract me from any pain I might have - so now I actually look forward to all the hard punches and jabs.. :/ :))
Hmmm.. I think that is all for now..
What a fun last month for all of my readers.. :/ Just me complaining about my butt hurting... :D

Midwife appointment.
We had a midwife appointment today. And besides my blood pressure, everything was pretty okay!
Blood pressure was something around 138 .. she never said what the bottom number was, so I assume that was around normal. She asked if I had a headache, I didn't, but I expected it to be high. She didn't seem too concerned, though.
There was a bit of protein in my urine, which she said isn't that uncommon for right now. But of course she will keep an eye on that. After I finish my antibiotics, she'll test me for a urine infection, just to make sure.
Glucose was 5,3 ... which is pretty good considering I had had lunch soon before the appointment.
And iron was 124, which is really good.
Weight was exactly the same ... and again, I get the "are you eating" look from her.. :/ :) I am eating, I eat every meal, I just am not that hungry right now and don't eat very much. But besides no weight gain (maybe went down a little?) my tummy is getting bigger - and that is good.
We went through everything that has happened since I talked to her on Thursday morning. She wasn't surprised that it was impossible to get an appointment at the clinic in town, and she gave us a good recommendation for a private husläkare (family doctor). We went through all my medicine, and told me to not worry about the Tylenol, because I didn't take much of it. And she said she doesn't consider me THAT late in pregnancy, so it shouldn't be so dangerous (or she was trying to help me not feel bad).. :/ :))
Baby's heartbeat was around what it was last time, I think: 135-145.
She thinks the baby is still in a head-down position. I think it was a little difficult for her to feel, but since she was certain the baby was at the last appointment, she is saying that the baby is now, too.. :/ :)) I wasn't very comfy laying on my back, so she was trying to hurry as much as possible.
She explained better why they won't cut me open for a long time considering the abscess. (Explained it better than the doctor and surgeon.)
She said that right now it IS just an inflamed area, and if they cut me open, it is almost certain that the bacteria will just spread to other areas. But if we just wait longer to see if it does become an infection, then it will be very centralized - instead of in lots of areas. Which was a much better reasoning of why than what anyone else said.. :/ :))
After the appointment, Fredrik and I went to the grocery store. I got around okay, but he pretty much demanded that he bring me home afterwards, instead of me going with him to the home-fixing store to get some molding.. :P It was time to take all my pills anyways..
I've done fairly okay today. Either the pain is dying down a little, or I'm just managing it better and putting up with it. :/ :) It IS much easier to walk and stand than it was before. But I get tired very, very easily. I don't have a problem taking naps, now, though.. :D
We're all sorta hoping that Baby shows up a bit early, now, though.. :/ :) So I can get some proper medicine..
Ooooh..! And she said that the.. pain medicine I'm taking, that if I have an epidural, that it will interfere with that - so I have to have a different dose of my epidural anesthetic.. :/ So, they have to be very aware of my medicine.
Next appointment is October 2nd.

Nothing...
Nothing can be done.. :/ :(
They sent us to the Maternity Ward right away and I got to talk to an OB (obstetrician - a pregnancy doctor). She looked me over and said that there wasn't anything that she could do. She said that it wasn't very far along (the abscess) and not near the surface of the skin. If it was, then she could use a local anesthetic and make a small incision and that would be that. So she said she would have a surgeon come and talk to us.
We waited until the surgeon was out of surgery, and then he came to see us, which was great - because we didn't have to walk to wherever he was in the hospital, and that way he and the OB could discuss everything.
He also looked me over and poked around a lot.. :/ :) And he said that the abscess is very deep, unlike my other abscesses. He said he wasn't even sure if it was pus. (Isn't that what makes it an abscess?!?! So is it just an inflamed area then?!?) But that since it is so deep, if anything needed to be done, that I would have to have full anesthetic, not even an epidural.
So he left and chit-chatted with the OB for a few minutes, and they decided that we wait.. :/
They said that right now it is more important for the Baby that we don't do anything. That we can't do any kind of surgery this late in the pregnancy. (Unless of course I develop a fever, and then we work with that if it comes.) So I will have to suffer until Baby shows up, and if the abscess is still there, then have surgery to remove/drain it.
And he isn't even sure if there is anything to be drained.. Which is also why he doesn't wanna touch it - to open me up for no reason.. :/
The surgeon doesn't think my antibiotics will do anything to help.. :/ But he does think that there is a chance that it will just go away on its own.. since there isn't pus (?), I don't have a fever, and it is so deep.
The OB looked over my medicine and she couldn't find anything in Sweden registered with the same ingredients as Tylenol, but the things that were close, she said that I shouldn't take it...... :/ That this late in pregnancy, it is bad for Baby's heart. So....... I feel like a horrible mother.. :/ :(((
I didn't take many pills, and when I did, I only took ½ a dose. (But it is difficult to not feel bad and be worried.)
But they did give me a prescription pain medicine to take, 3 x a day. And that I can take a generic (Tylenol type) pain reliever (over-the-counter) along with the prescription. And they gave me an ointment to use topically, to help reduce pain. But the pain medicine reduces fever, so I have to take my temperature each time before I take my pain medicine.
And then I got some... liquid stuff to help me go to the bathroom.
So.. I have lots of medicine to take for awhile.. :/ (Fredrik said the pharmacist felt very sorry for me when she was filling my prescriptions.) :/ :))
Which I have to drag all to the Midwife tomorrow so that she knows what I am taking.
They (the OB and surgeon) weren't really concerned considering the Baby that I couldn't move, sleep, or don't have an appetite.. :/ More in not using anesthetic.
I absolutely agree with what they said, that right now the Baby is more important, and we have to make sure Baby is healthy. I just hope that I feel better, so I don't have to live like this for the next month.. :/
I actually have felt better today. Maybe all the moving around helped some, even them poking at it ... to make the area not so hard.
So, I still plan on taking plenty of naps, to let my body try to fight this thing ... but I want to start making myself move around more (even with the pain) - cause I think that will also help to fight off the icky-stuff.
But everyone was so fantastically nice. Makes me feel more at ease for when we will show up for delivery. All the midwives, the doctor, and the surgeon were fantastic.
On the way home, we stopped at a home fixing store in town and we looked at molding, trying to decide what to get - so that we can finish the room up.. :/ :) I was pleased with myself for actually feeling like walking around that much - and only being in discomfort because I really needed to pee..... :/ :)
I am pretty tired now.. :/ :) And we had to go so long without food.. So I think that I will sleep well tonight. And looking forward to tomorrow to see if things are getting any better. :)
And a big thank-you to everyone for all the well-wishes in getting better!!

Off to the hospital..
Fredrik just called and he is on his way home..!
He called Näl, but didn't tell me what they said, driving and all, but we'll leave when he gets home.
Feel horrible.. :/ Making him miss work, but not much can be done I guess.. :/
With the way I feel, I wouldn't even be able to make my midwife appointment tomorrow.
So, not even sure to take overnight stuff to the hospital.. :/ Can't come back and get it if I do have to stay the night, so might as well take it.. :/
Really wish we lived closer to a hospital.. :/
He called Näl, but didn't tell me what they said, driving and all, but we'll leave when he gets home.
Feel horrible.. :/ Making him miss work, but not much can be done I guess.. :/
With the way I feel, I wouldn't even be able to make my midwife appointment tomorrow.

Bad night..
So, last night was pretty bad.
I slept for a few hours yesterday morning and got up for some lunch. And then got in bed for a nap but couldn't fall asleep. The pain being the same as days before. I got up at 18.00 to have a bite to eat and try to sit up for the rest of the evening (like the night before), so that I can fall asleep in the evening. The pain came and went, but definitely got worse as the night went on. By the time I went to bed, I was in dreadful pain. (I had stopped taking Tylenol - feeling that I've already doomed the Child enough with not being healthy.) I got in bed and started crying because it hurt so much.
I did eventually fall asleep - I didn't think I would with the pain.
So, I think we decided that I can't live like this, waiting for the pills. I know the abscess is not getting larger, but the pain is radiating more and more, and it hurts.. :/
Right now it is "okay" - pain is manageable, but it is always like that first thing in the morning, and then progressively worsens as the day goes on. So, he'll call Näl today and see what they have to say (I'm extremely curious as to what they can do). I've also become dehydrated, too.. :/ Even with all the water and juice that I am drinking, and that isn't good for Baby. So, we think I need to go to the hospital. No idea when I'll go, probably after he gets home from work some time.

Ehh..
Just had some fruit and juice and took my antibiotic and a Tylenol.
I guess I slept okay last night considering, but I can't sleep on my left side any more.. :/ Hurts too much. I felt a bit icky last night around 7-8, but then I started feeling better.
Part of me wants to get a fever, so that something has to be done - I want the pain to go away.. :( It hurts a lot. :( But I'm no where close to having a fever, so I am going to have to tough it out.
It really hurts to walk, it hurts to stand, and sitting it varies.
Ehhh........

Slight headache.
Some pictures of the room:

I have a slight headache, not really a headache, my head is just more annoyed from laying in bed and having slept most of the day.
"I" still feel fine. My butt.. comes and goes.. :/ :))
Fredrik went and filled my prescription. 3 x 500 mg a day.
The pharmacist confirmed that the pills are perfectly safe to take while pregnant, but because they are so safe and mild, that it will take them a while to start working. So she said to just keep taking them unless I get a fever. (And then of course to go to the hospital.)
The abscess is much harder today (hasn't been hard at all yet). So, I'm hoping that the pills will do their magic. Hurts plenty to stand, it is okay to sit if I get in a good position, and it varies back and forth when laying down. I know the pills have no pain-taking effect, but I think in my head it is working enough as a placebo. I did take 1 Tylenol, but I know that that isn't enough to do anything (but at least I can pretend).
I have heartburn (of course) even though I haven't eaten that much today. Probably from just laying down so much.. :/
Fredrik is doing well.. :) After he got back from the pharmacy, grocery store, and dump, he took a break and played his game a little, but he's almost finished with the floor now. :) He's taking good care of me and putting movies in so I don't have to get up (to help keep me entertained in bed - and it helps me fall asleep) and bringing me water, etc..
I was a little tired of being in bed, so I thought I would write a little.. :P But now it is time to fix a little something to eat.

Hope.
I'm really hoping that the pills do something.. :/
My body feels better this morning, better than I have felt in the last couple of days, but I think I have more pain coming from my nether-region.
I know I have to give the pills a little more time, but hopefully it is a good sign that on the whole I feel better and I slept well last night.
Caesar is sitting at my feet, he either wants his morning hugs, wants food, or wants to go outside. So, I guess I should see which it is.. :/ :)
Fredrik is still sleeping of course, going to let him sleep in this morning. And then I know he is going to want to finish the last little bit of floor, which I'll try to get some pictures on. I started out trying to help him, but he has completely done it himself. I couldn't get up and down off the floor so often - the baby makes it more difficult.. :/ :) So, I handed him wood pieces, and helped plan with the more difficult cuts. But he has done it all himself. It looks great, too! I'll try to get a couple of pictures on. He hopes to go shopping for molding today, and we can work on that some. Not too much to do with the floor, but have to do the window and door frames. And no matter how often we do it or how many special cutting tools we have - we can NOT get the pieces to line up properly...... :/ :)
More later!

Road to recovery!
I feel better already.. ;)
Got to the hospital, we weren't very sure if it was the right spot or not, but it was.. :/ :)
It took only a couple of minutes after I saw the doctor.
He is Norwegian, and I understood about ½ of what he said.. ½ sounds like Swedish and the other ½ sounds like gibberish.. :/ :))
But it is an abscess...... :/ :) Not too far gone, though, yet. And he gave me an antibiotic that he said that with 30 years experience he has never seen any problem with it (for the baby). They gave me 2 pills, and a prescription to get filled tomorrow. He said it isn't 100% that it will keep the abscess from going full-blown, but this should hopefully do something. Try to minimize infection and pain. If it does get worse, then we'll have to go to Näl (the big hospital) and have something done. His goal, he said, is to keep it as minimal as possible, and then deal with it after the baby shows up. (With an epidural, I can have the baby, and have the abscess drained at the same time...) ;) Two birds with one stone.. :))
But my body, fortunately, takes medicine very well - so I'm hoping that it will work wonders for me.. ;)
One of the nurses Fredrik talked to on the phone said that this isn't uncommon to get while pregnant (along with a few other things, like hemorrhoids).
Why me?!?! The pregnancy was going along so easily and effortlessly.. And then this happens... *sigh*
Oh well... :/ :)
Now it is time to let Fredrik play his game on the computer.. :) As he is sawing flooring for the room now, and I want him to sit and rest and relax and enjoy finally being at home. :)

Säffle.
Fredrik got home and we ate and then he called the clinic/hospital in Bäckefors (about 50 minutes away) ... and she was very helpful (the nurse) ... she asked how far along I was and said that maybe we should try Säffle (only 15 minutes away - and they have a night clinic, which is perfect) instead and she gave us a number to call. Fredrik called the number and a very not-so-nice nurse answered and gave him a different number to call. Then we waited in a queue for a while and then finally talked to someone. And she was really, nice. I talked to her (yes, in Swedish) and talked about what was wrong, and she said that since they might need to give me pain medicine, that I might have to go to Näl (the hospital that does deliveries around here) ... which is where we didn't want to go.. :/ :) So, she put me on hold and talked to someone and then she told me that they will take me and let me see a doctor, but then depending on what is wrong and how bad it is will determine if we have to go to Näl (because of the baby). So, I am finishing up my hospital bags to take with us, just in case (or if I have to stay the night) - and Fredrik is running around like a chicken with its head cut off because he is so anxious.. :/ :))
So, our appointment is at 20.40.
I told her that it might not be an abscess (although now I am about 85% sure it is), but that I just really wanna see a doctor, and then if we need to go somewhere else - then so be it.
So, hopefully in the next post, I'll be feeling much better, and stay better until Karl-Astrid decides to make an appearance. :))
(We're glad to have pappa home.) :)

T-30 days.
About 4 weeks left now. And finally into our 9th month. :)
I started packing my hospital bag this evening. Figured it wouldn't hurt to at least have an idea of what to take with us.
Fredrik left pretty early this morning, around 06.50, and he barely made the train.. :/ :) His get-together is a district thing - for everyone to meet and go over what everyone has been working on, etc.. etc...
And right about now his shrimp boat should be docking.. :/ :)
He had asked his boss if it was okay to come home this evening, and not have to stay the night, and the boss asked if there was a problem with staying - but of course there wasn't, he just wanted to come home instead.. :/ :)
But they had dinner tonight on a shrimp boat. He doesn't mind the food, but it lasts for a long time, and he isn't interested in drinking, which is what everyone does with the extra hours after dinner.
But he will be done at a decent time tomorrow, and wait a little for his train, and then a 2 hour trip home and he will get home around 17.00. We miss him, of course.. :/ :)
Especially since I'm not feeling so well... :/ Wasn't going to mention my.. illness, but I might as well.. :P
I think I have an abscess ... :/ Have had discomfort since Tuesday, and it has just gotten worse. Called my midwife this morning and talked to her, and then called the clinic in town. They were going to get me in to see a doctor tomorrow morning - but I can't tomorrow morning because the chimney sweep is coming. And once I said I couldn't at that one time tomorrow (the only time they evidently had for tomorrow), she wasn't very interested in talking to me any more (the reception nurse, for booking), and she told me to call back on Monday. So, I will call back tomorrow morning, and see if they can get me in some time before Monday. I don't really wanna go the weekend - I don't want to wait to get a fever - I want to start fighting this before I get that sick.. So, I might be having to have Fredrik take me to the ER on Saturday morning, or maybe Friday evening - just to get some medicine, because that is the only other option for medical treatment.
Right now it is just sore and it hurts.. and I feel a little "ehh..."
And the baby hasn't stopped moving the last 2 days, so that doesn't make me feel any better.. :/ The constant jiggling and pushing inside my tummy.. :/ :)
I managed to get some naps in today ...
Aha.. :) Just got a call from Fredrik and his cell phone's battery is dying (couldn't find the charger before he left). But he is doing well, on his way back to the hotel.
I have to make sure I get up tomorrow and shower early to be able to turn off the pellet burner. He could show up btwn 9-11 ... He'll probably show up at 10.55.
And we were supposed to have the washer/dryer/freezer delivered today - but that didn't happen! They called last night and said that the dryer didn't come in, but the other 2 did, and asked if it was okay if they would bring the dryer next week some time, and bring the other stuff today - but Fredrik just told them to bring them all together next week, so they don't have to make 2 trips here.
But I think right now I am going to go put in a good (scary) movie and get in the couch, and see if I can sleep some. :)
Sov gott, älskling!

5 years, today.
On September 12th I left the US and arrived in Sweden early on the morning of the 13th, 2002. And that began my residency in Sweden. :) Now it is 5 years later and I am still here.. :/ :D
Happy 5th Anniversary!!
Happy 5th Anniversary!!
36th Week of Pregnancy
How big is your baby?
Your baby has grown to be between 16 and 19 inches (40-48 cm) long and weighs 5 ¾ to 6 ¾ pounds (2,7-3,15 kg).
What is happening with your baby?
The fine downy hair, lanugo, that has covered you baby’s skin is beginning to disappear, along with the vernix caseosa. Vernix caseosa is the thick, creamy substance that has protected your baby’s skin while he/she has been submerged in amniotic fluid. Both of these are swallowed by your baby, along with additional amniotic fluid, which combine together to form meconium, or your baby’s first bowel movement.
Your baby should be in the head down position, but do not panic if he/she has yet to attain this position. If by next week he/she is still not head down, then your health care provider may suggest trying external cephalic version.

Lots of essentials...
...and a few other things as well.. :)
I think this is most everything, but I might have forgotten a few things - like the bath toy that changes color when the water temperature is too warm - Fredrik took that right away and had to try it out.. :)
A hamper for baby clothes. A mesh net inside for easy transport to the laundry room.
A package of 12 cloth diapers - which will be used as burp cloths, and a breast pump with a cooler bag.
A baby positioner, to keep baby from accidentally laying on its side or tummy (which prevents SIDS), and a microwave steam bottle/pacifier cleaner.
A baby positioner for the car seat, and a baby-carrier.
A set of 3 baby hats and 2 pairs of shorts that look a little too much for a girl. :))
Some very nice bottles that are supposed to help prevent colic, a breast milk storage kit (for fridge and freezer) so that pappa can feed, too, and a health-care kit, with lots of little essentials.
A cute outfit for the fattest 3 month old in the World. :D
Some wipes for when the child starts to potty on the toilet, and a set of 120 breast pads for leaking milk.
Some baby wipes in a reusable container and a package of newborn diapers - that have a low-cut middle to not irritate the umbilical cord until it falls off.
Some beautiful curtains for the baby's room, a set of 3 burp cloths, and a set of 5 receiving blankets.
A set of baby-bath essentials: baby wash, lotion, and creams.
A few toys, some mittens, and some special anti-scratch mittens, a pooh rattle, a little lamb, that is also a book, and one of my favorite toys: a little "worm" that rattles, crunches, squeaks, etc...
A CD player that hangs on the crib (including a night light), another changing pad cover, and an adorable fleece blanket.
