Around 6 weeks left.. :/ Time is closing in!
I'm a little nervous, more anxious. I don't think I will get nervous until the contractions start. :) And then every moment after that will seem very surreal. Especially the first time seeing and holding the Baby. :) Very important to have the camera at that point, because I am afraid that it will seem so surreal that it will be difficult to remember it later!
Midwife appointment today went very well!
I asked her about Group B Strep test. You can read about it HERE. It is a routine test given to every pregnant woman in the US. And we talked about why it isn't done in Sweden. First I asked if it IS done, and she said that only if there is a reason (like an infection), or that a woman had it through a previous delivery. If they don't find it prudent to do it, then I am standing behind them on it. :) It is just interesting to learn about all the different tests they mandatorily do in the US and think are unnecessary in Sweden.
She was very pleased that my sleeping is better.. even if I have to sleep on the couch.. :/ :) She said sometimes that's what you have to do. But I'm hoping that if it stays well, that I might try to go back to sleeping in bed - a little more comfy.. :/ :)
Tests!
- No protein in urine.
- Bloodpressure: 135/65
- Iron: 119
- Blood sugar: 5.5
My iron has gone down a little from all previous tests. So, to keep my "reserve" up (as she put it), she said to just get some pills at the pharmacy and take one every other day. I'm impressed that my iron has actually been so high during the pregnancy. I usually have very low iron. So low that I've been turned down to give blood..! (Something I did regularly in the US, but haven't done once in Sweden - and I feel slightly guilty about.) :/
Tummy height - 33-34 cm, right on target with what week we are in.
Heartbeat was much lower!! Averaging 144-149.
I read in my What to Expect When You're Expecting book, that the baby should turn in a head-down position anytime btwn week 32 and 36. And she felt my tummy and said that the baby is in a head-down position already! :) So, one step closer to baby-time. :)
Next appointment is September 18th (in 2 weeks).
In the US, when you get to your last month, they have you visit the doctor once a week. Not in Sweden! It continues as every other week!
And I've been having.. more practice contractions. Tightening in that.. area..
So, now I am slightly paranoid that the Baby will show up while Fredrik is gone this week.. :/ :D Not because I think the baby is ready to come out, but because Fredrik will be gone.. :/ :) (That that would be our luck - Murphy's Law: What can go wrong, will go wrong.)
Fredrik asked me today if I definitely think it is a boy - and I said that I think that I have gotten to the point where I don't care.. :/ :)) Just as long as it is healthy is all that I am thinking at this point - since time is drawing close.
Fredrik is painting the last wall right now. I just had an icecream sandwich, and I think the Baby wants one now, too... :/ :D
After the appointment today we went to a computer store in town and he bought another harddrive (one that we can have to ONLY back-up our junk on) and a DVD burner. And we looked at laptops, too, of course. And I still want one.. Maybe I will have to splurg and buy one.. :/ :))
Farmor and Farfar will be coming over this weekend!
Going to miss Fredrik while he is away this week.. :/

Glad to hear that you had a good visit. I think the baby is ready!!!
Hi,
I am from the United States of America, and I run a non-profit organization www.groupbstrepinternational.org
Group b Strep is very important, because if you have Group b Strep, and do not know it, your baby could become very ill, or worse yet die. My 3rd daughter Hannah Noelle was stilborn from Group b Strep Sepsis. Although my wife was tested, and the doctor made a grave mistake, there are precautions that can and should be taken to ensure that your baby arrives healthy. Sure, the instances where babies get sick and die are rare, but why would you take the chance?
Good Luck with your pregnancy, and with the grace of God, you will have a healthy baby.
John
