Our playpen.

NOT to be confused with a baby gym:

A baby gym is for an immobile child. (Trust me, once a child starts to crawl, the last thing it is interested in is something right in front of it.)

A baby gym is for a very young baby. A play pen is for a child that is starting to move or is very mobile. Play pens used to be much more popular, during the 80's and 90's in the US, and then they started going off the market.

But a few years ago (right after Fredrik and I married), we found this play pen and decided that it would be awesome to have it. So, my parents bought it and brought it over with them on their next flight to visit us (with hopes that we would some day have use of it). ;) And I am glad they did, too, because this play pen is no longer available. (And I think they phased out the word "play pen" and adopted "play yard".) But either way, it is the same thing. In fact, I couldn't find anything remotely similar to this object besides the portable baby cribs, which have a completely different purpose.

The purpose of a playpen:
To immobilize a child. :/ :))
Perfect for indoor or outdoor, to keep little feet from running where they shouldn't. To keep the child from playing in the litter box while I answer the phone, etc.. etc.. So this is for when the child is crawling and definitely for when it is walking, to keep it in a very centralized area. And it comes in a great carrying case, for easy transportation (although a bit heavy). So, this will be great to take to the summer house to keep little feet from wandering onto the road in front of the house that is frequented by Loggers (logging trucks). So, we won't really have use of this until next summer, when crawling is well under way and walking is around the corner.

And a couple pictures of the room:

Far from perfect, but I don't think we should be too disappointed. We aren't professionals, so we shouldn't expect perfection.. :/
