12th Week of Pregnancy

What is happening with your baby?
This week your baby will begin to take on more of a normal appearance as the eyes move closer together and the ears move closer to their final position. The intestines have grown so fast that they actually extend into the umbilical cord, but they will begin to move back into the abdomen. The kidneys can now secrete urine, and the nervous system is continuing to mature. Your baby may have developed more complicated reflexes such as sucking.

How big is your baby?
Your baby is 3 inches long and weighs 1 ounce by the end of this week.

Week 12

The fetus now measures about 2.5 inches from crown to rump and weighs between three-tenths of an ounce and half an ounce. It is fully formed, from tooth buds to toenails, and your baby's job now is to continue getting larger and stronger for the rest of your pregnancy. With the most critical development behind the fetus, the chance of miscarriage drops considerably after this week.

Potty breaks.

The interview went very well. Fredrik is very pleased with how it went, and it lasted for 1½ hours. He'll find out at the beginning of next week if he gets the job.

We're still not sure how much notice he has to give at his current job, but the new company would like him to start asap. So, even if he has to give a month's notice, he would still start at the beginning of May (if he gets the job, of course).

Very stressful not knowing if we are moving or not ... but I'm trying to keep busy so as to not ponder about it too much at one time and get myself worked up about it.

I'm sitting and eat lunch, finishing my milk, and Caesar is sitting on the couch arm beside me, with his paw on my milk glass.. :/ :) I think he wants to share.

Fredrik was in a little awe and slightly annoyed with how many potty-breaks we had to have while on the road yesterday. :D I warned him that it would only get worse. :)

While on the road, I did some catch-up reading in my What to Expect When You're Expecting book that I received from my parents awhile back. It is an American must-have while pregnant. A perfect guide and information book. I haven't been able to read very much in it because of school, but I was able to read in it a lot yesterday.

My friend, Yamini, and I have neither had morning sickness, not sick once. And we both thought it was a little strange, although both very pleased. And I read in the book that only a little over 50% of pregnant women have morning sickness ... so it really isn't that uncommon to not get naucious and/or throw-up.

Like Fredrik keeps reminding me from my favorite movie "Rosemary's Baby," Dr. Sapirstein says, "No two pregnancies are ever the same." :)

The car ride yesterday was a little uncomfortable, though. :/ I think my pants are getting a little tight. I think it will take a long time to notice that I am pregnant, though, because I have (nasty I know) so much extra skin from where I lost so much weight. But I think I am feeling a little bulge in my tummy, which is normal for this time I think. But luckily I have lots of pants that are too big now, that I can wear for awhile until I have to go full maternity clothes. :)

I was having.. not really pains, but much uncomfort in my abdomen the last 2 days (off and on but gone today) and I am figuring that is just my uterus growing to accomodate the baby.

I am extremely anxious for Spring Cleaning..
Luckily with my school schedule, I will have plenty of time to clean and throw stuff away.
I did have class 5 days a week, with some very ungodly morning hours, but now I only have class 3 days a week, completely spread out through the week, so I will have lots of time now to rest and relax and take it easy. Which I am very, very relieved about. :) Plenty of time for the baby and I to rest.

All of the baby's development should be done by now. Now it is just time to grow. :) (Hopefully not TOO big.) :D

Anxious for the first midwife appointment, and very anxious to see when we can schedule another ultrasound.

I've only gained about 1 pound (0.45 kilos) in the last 3 months. Which I think is very okay. I won't have to gain very much weight during the pregnancy. I think a total of 15 pounds (6.75 kilos) now should be desired. I am eating.. very well and very surprised that I haven't gained more weight, but Fredrik thinks that my body is still in a "lose-weight" mode. As long as I am getting my nutrients, there isn't much I can do about it, so we'll see how the weight gain goes the rest of the pregnancy.

Fredrik was doing some sympathy eating for a little while. :)) But I think he has actually lost some weight. He usually does lose weight during the Spring and Summer months because he can be outside so much (which he really enjoys).
He did have some sympathy stomach cramps/pains for two days a couple of weeks ago. :)

Maybe now since my schedule has calmed down a little, I can continue on the baby blanket I started. Not sure it is wide enough, but I think it will do. :) But I have to make sure I try to do as much school work as I can because if we end up moving before the end of my term ... I want to get grades for my classes!! :) Especially the medicine class.. the books were many and expensive and I've worked so hard for it I really want a grade.. :/ And I have an MVG (highest grade) in my computer class, so I definately want to finish that and have the grade.

But now I should get to some school work, and take a break here and there to do some cleaning. And of course a break now and then to feed the hungry visitor inside me. :)

Fredrik should have e-mailed the interviewers already and given them a pay interest amount and his references. Keep your fingers crossed! :) (And hold your thumbs!)

Early morning surprises.

Woke up and went downstairs to shower ... saw the cat sitting at the backdoor (he is starting to stay out all night now - the weather is so nice) and walked over to let him in ....... When I saw... A dead bird, disembowled, laying by the back door..... :/ I didn't take a picture.. :) But it was very disgusting. :)) It is a little strange, though, because Caesar usually eats his prey, especially birds. But this one only had a missing head and a ripped open stomach. :))

I'm "very" excited for the kitty to bring lots of fun "toys" to our baby to share. :/ :)

We're getting ready to leave for Göteborg.
Fredrik isn't nervous about the interview, only nervous about getting the job.

Spring is definately here ... the weather was actually a little incredible yesterday.
Which reminded me that I will be 6-7-8 months pregnant during summer..... :/ :((
But! At least we aren't in the US, because I think that I would die if I had to be pregnant during the hot summer months there. :/ Ehhh.. get uncomfortable just thinking about it.

I've packed up some sandwiches and food to take with us, and Fredrik has printed out some maps just to make sure ... We'll see if today will be a change in our future. :)

Wish us luck!

Car seats.

So, I think Fredrik has decided which car seat he wants to get. :)

First, he wanted to get a BMW car seat.. :/ :)))

Of course the same color as our leather interior.. :))

But I think he has given up on that and has decided on a more... practically priced car seat. :)

Still pricey, but it at least covers a little more age range. :) He wants this one because it connects with the special latches we have in the rear seats of the car. :)
But we'll try to get to a (noncrowded) store some time to check it out.

I had my dentist appointment yesterday. The dentist had no problem taking the x-rays. I thought I would have 3 holes, but it was only 1! And I already have an appointment to get it filled. The other pain (from what I thought was more cavities) ended up just being me having hurt my tooth.. :/ I am a clencher, which causes and makes my TMJ worse (I have problems with my jaw joints, I'm not supposed to eat tough breads or meats, chew gum, eat chewy candy, etc - which I almost live by......).. But he said that I have.. not chipped my tooth, but split it somehow.. :/ But he said it wasn't dangerous or a problem. There is no injury apparent on the tooth, so I have no idea what he is talking about. :/ :) But that is why he is the dentist and I pay him a lot of money. :)

And for some reason, every now and then you happen to run across a few people that think just because your not a native speaker of a language, that you are also deaf as well.. :/ :)))

Our car is up for sale, pictures and all :::
Volvo s40 T4
Although the interior pictures don't do the car justice.

We went shopping on Saturday and went ahead and confirmed our stroller choice, just the color we're not sure about just yet. We bought a little clothes, a couple of toys, some bibs, things like that. :)
Babyland + Kungens Kurva + pay weekend = Not a very good idea.. :/

I think that Fredrik and I are both going a little crazy about waiting on if we will be moving or not. I think we will both go into a slight depression if he doesn't get the job. :/ It isn't that we don't like where we live, and we would still like to continue fixing up our house ... we just know where we want to be, where we know we will be happiest ... where we think we belong. :)

Pojke vs Flicka

Pojke vs Flicka
Boy vs Girl

I found this cute list on a random Swedish woman's pregnancy site and I thought it was neat. :) We have our own "wive's tales" about if it will be a boy or girl, so it is neat to see something in Swedish about it. Some of it doesn't apply to us yet, so I'll go through it now, and keep updating it as time goes on. :)

Du kommer att få en pojke om... (You're going to have a boy if...)

• din bebis hjärta slår med mindre än 140 slag/minut (your baby's heart beats less than 140 beats/minute) Doesn't apply yet.

• du bär magen "framåt" (your stomache is forward) Doesn't apply yet.

• du bär bebisen långt ner (the baby is low) Doesn't apply yet.

• du blir vackrare under graviditeten (you become prettier/more beautiful during the pregnancy) Not sure I should be the judge of this one.

• du inte var illamående de första tre månaderna (you were not sick during the first 3 months) Slightly naucious for a little while, but never threw up once!

• dina pupiller utvidgas när du tittar på dig själv i spegeln minst en minut (your pupil widens when you look at yourself in the mirror for at least a minute) Stayed about the same. No difference in the end.

• du vill äta salt och proteinrik mat, som ost och kött (you want to eat salt and protein rich foods, like cheese and meat) If I've craved anything, it would be burgers.

• dina fötter lättare blir kalla (your feet become cold easier) My feet are always cold.. :/

• du gör en pendel av din vigselring och en bit tråd, hänger den över magen och den svänger i cirklar (make a pendulum with your wedding ring and a piece of thread, hang it over your stomach and it swings in circles) I'll try that later.

• du får torr hy (you have dry skin) Nope.

• du lägger din ålder då du blev befruktad till numret på månaden du blev befruktad och svaret är ett jämnt nummer (take the number of your age when you became pregnant plus the number of the month you became pregnant and the answer is an even number) 27 years + 1 for January = 28! Even number.

• du fått tjockare och blankare hår under graviditeten (you get more thicker and shinier hair during pregnancy) Hair hasn't changed, but maybe with time.

• håret på benen växet fortare under graviditeten (the hair on your legs grows faster during pregnancy) Haven't noticed a change.

• du lättare får huvudvärk (you get headaches easier) True!

• du sover med huvudet mot norr (you sleep with your head to the North) Nope! To the South.

• du spontant visar händerna med handflatan nedåt ifall någon ber att få se dem (if someone asks to see your hands, you automatically show your hands with palms down) Nope.

• du sover på vänster sida (you sleep on your left side) Yes! I used to always sleep on my right side, but now I always sleep on my left side or my back.

• din urin är klargul (your urine is a clear-yellow) Difficult to know.

• du luktar starkt från hela kroppen då du ätit vitlök (you smell a lot from your whole body when you eat garlic) No idea.

• om ditt förra barns första ord vad "pappa". (your previous child's first word was "dada")
Doesn't apply.

Du kommer att få en flicka om... (You're going to have a girl if...)

• din bebis hjärta slår fortare än 140 slag/minut (your baby's heart beats more than 140 beats/minute) Doesn't apply yet.

• du är rund runtom, inte bara framåt (your are more round in the middle, not only outwards) Doesn't apply yet.

• du bär bebisen högt (your baby is high) Doesn't apply yet.

• du inte alls blev vackrare under graviditeten (you didn't become at all prettier during pregnancy) Not sure I should be the judge of this one.

• du var illamående de första tre månaderna (you were sick during the first 3 months) Nope!

• dina pupiller inte utvidgas när du tittar på dig själv i spegeln minst en minut (your pupils do not widen when you look at yourself for at least a minute in the mirror) Stayed about the same. No difference in the end.

• du vill äta sötsaker som juice, frukt och godis (you want to eat sweet things like juice, fruit, and candy) Not really, although I have been munching lots on grapes and apple juice, and homemade cookies.. ehhh.. I guess that would be a yes. :)

• du gör en pendel av din vigselring och en bit tråd och den svänger från sida till sida när du håller den över magen (make a pendulum with your wedding ring and a piece of string and then hang it over your stomach and it swings from side to side) I'll try that later.

• din hy är mjukare än vanligt (your skin is softer than normal) Fredrik says I always have soft skin.. ;)

• du är mer känslosam än vanligt (you are more emotional than normal) Yes. :/ I can just go through the TV channels and just catch a glimpse of Oprah and start crying.. :/ Rather annoying actually.....

• du spontant visar dina händer med handflatan uppåt om någon ber att få se dem (when someone asks to see your hands, you automatically show them palms up) Yes.

• du inte luktar starkt efter att ha ätit vitlök (you don't smell strongly after eating garlic) No idea.

• du lägger din ålder vid befruktningen till numret på den månad du blev befruktad och svaret är ett udda tal (you add your age, when you became pregnant, with the number of the month you became pregnant and the answer is a odd number) Nope.

• ditt hår blivit tunnare och mer glanslöst under graviditeten (your hair has become thinner and less shiny during pregnancy) No difference as of now.

• du sover på höger sida (you sleep on your right side) Nope.

• du sover med huvudet mot söder (you sleep with your head towards the South) Yes!

• din urin är mindre klargul (your urine is less clear-yellow) Nope.

• ditt förra barns första ord var "mamma". (your previous child's first word was "mama")
Doesn't apply.

Räkning (Findings) :::
Pojke: 5 green / 4 red
Flicka: 5 green / 4 red

So it seems like it could go either way right now. :/ :))
We'll have to wait until the belly grows some. :)

A little sad.

We were a little sad to say goodbye to our Volvo ... :/ :) Silly, I know, but we love the car. :)

Fredrik woke up this morning and dreamt that the BMW had been stripped. :D But no worries, the car fit in the garage without a problem. :) So we feel a little safer about all that. Pictures of the car, soon. :)

I finally wrote my medicine test yesterday morning - it took 2½ hours. Not as difficult as I thought it would be and I drew what ended up being a very awesome diagram of the heart. ;)

For those of you that know our sweet, little kitty-cat ... this is what he does to wake us up in the middle of the night. He rips off the wallpaper in our bedroom..... Ehh..

So Stockholm today, and a fika ("tea"/brunch) with Gittan (Fredrik's great-aunt). Should be a nice day. :)
And hopefully we'll find some baby furniture that we are interested in! We're not interested in buying anything from IKEA, but since we are there, we'll probably go look anyways. :)

VG! :)

I passed the national test without a problem and then I received a VG in the class!! :) A VG is the highest grade that you can get in the grund-level classes. I'm very happy. :) And on Tuesday I start SAS A - Swedish as a Second Language (same as Svenska A but for immigrants). I am now at high school level Swedish. :/ :)

To know or not to know?

I'm having issues about wanting to know the sex of the baby.

For Fredrik it is a definate "no." He doesn't want to know. :)
And up until a few weeks ago, I wasn't really interested in knowing either. I think it is more a curiosity thing that is killing me. :) That we have to wait for so much longer to find out.
And knowing that in a few weeks we'd be able to find out is making it much more difficult for me.

But no worries, I don't think Fredrik would let me find out even if I decided that I wanted to know. :))

Fredrik called the dentist on Wednesday, and I have an appointment for Monday..
Ahhh.. private dentistry. We're really bad at signing up with the dentist in the commune ... I guess maybe since we have ended up moving so much, it is just one of those things.. :/
So, we'll see how long it takes for everything to get done.. cleaning, x-rays, and fillings.

5 people in my Swedish class received their results yesterday, and only 1 person of the 5 passed the class.. :/ :) The rest of us will find out today.

This week has been one of the fastest in my life I think.. :/ Seems like it was just Sunday and we were talking about going and looking at puppies ... and now it is Thursday and we've decided instead that we are going to take our *ehm* BMW and drive into Stockholm (KungensKurva) and go looking for baby stuff. :)
Still very early to buy anything, but I think we are getting a little antsy about buying stuff. :) Even Fredrik. (It was his idea to go looking!)
And a definate trip to Pizza Hut for dinner. :))

And yes, the car is ours! He said that he had to put a sign on it early because lots of people came looking, very interested in our car. So, we'll do the car trading on Friday ... and officially have our "baby-car." :))
Fredrik is still wary about having bought it. :D A little afraid that we bought it because we wanted the car, and not because its size is practical.. :) It is as big as the other cars we looked at, but not the Mondeo, which was.. enormous- too big.
Don't worry, sweetheart! The car is perfect! :)

We're getting even more anxious about the interview next week. :/
And we check every day to see if the house we want is still up for sale. :/ :)

But that is all for now, grade results later!

11th Week

What is happening with your baby?
Your baby’s head accounts for almost half of his/her entire length. Both the fingers and the toes have separated by week 11. The baby’s skin is still very transparent, but his/her bones are beginning to harden. The external genitalia have almost completely formed, and in several weeks you might be able to know if you are having a boy or a girl. Even though you cannot feel your baby moving around, he/she is very active.

How big is your baby?
Your baby is about 2 ½ inches long and weighs about half an ounce.

Silly cat!

Caesar has been completely obsessing about the bathroom lately, more than usual.

Every time he goes into the bathroom, he rediscovers the heated flooring and lays down and starts rolling around on his back.
And now he is going completely insane with the shower. :/ :) If he goes in and there is water on the floor.. he pounces at the water droplets and attacks them. If there is no water, he'll sit there and look at me, look up at the shower, look at me, look up at the shower, etc, until I turn it on a little, and then he continues to sit there in the shower with the water running, intently watching the water. He is a very silly cat. :)

The weather has been a little strange. We woke up to snow yesterday, it dusted the ground but melted away within about 30 minutes. Then it rained the rest of the day, through the night, and now today, too. So, hopefully Spring is here to stay.

And poor Fredrik, he is starting to get sick. :( We're trying to fight it before it gets bad, I don't want him sick for his interview next week. :( He is coughing and sneezing a little and has a sore throat.. so we are trying to keep him medicated. Tylenol does wonders, it really does ... I finally gave in and took some, and I think it really helped me sleep during the night. I am getting better slowly, finally able to breath through my nose now. :)

And I read some yesterday on a great website (that a pregnant friend in Nyköping shared with me) about going to the dentist when you are pregnant and it said that it is perfectly safe to get a cleaning and a cavity filled during pregnancy. So, that is good to know!

Hmmm.. *think*
Fredrik asked me to go with him next week when he goes for his interview so I think I will do that. :) Maybe not the most fun area to sit around and wait for him (industrial shipyard.. :/ :) .. but I'm sure I can sit and read a good book in the car and wait for him). I would rather go with him, so he doesn't have to drive so far by himself all in one day. He'll get up in the morning and drive to Göteborg, have his interview and then drive home.

Now I should make myself study for the last test I have to take (my teacher is getting annoyed that I haven't taken it). It is annoying because I know all of the material, very well actually ... but it gets a little more difficult when it is in Swedish. I'm afraid I won't remember what everything is in Swedish. :/ :D And that I'll get nervous and just forget everything all together. So, I should go study.

More soon.

A BMW it shall be!

We spent a few hours at the car place today. First glance at the BMW and we knew it was ours. ;) It has a few simple, minor imperfections, but nothing that affects the car itself. (Like what looks like a dog knawed a little on the corner of the... pull.. cover.. flap-thingie over the trunk. But it is a nice car. And we took it for a test drive. And he offered us 120 000 SEK for our Volvo and winter tires for free. But before all that, we already decided that we wanted it. ;)
So, on Monday, just contact the bank for a meeting and get a loan with them, and the car will be ours. :) We've owned 3 different cars within.. 7 months? :/ :)
Here is the car:
BMW
We are a little unhappy about the mileage, that is the only.. impractical thing about the car.. But in a few years, we'll have driven it so little, it won't matter. (The nice thing about Fredrik having a work car.)

After spending so much time at the car place, we went to a nearby pizza place (had already eaten all the grapes I had taken with me) and split a pizza (that ended up being a bit small and thin). While eating our nutritious meal, Fredrik said that we could name the child "Cartman" (from South Park), at least use it as a nickname if the child goes through any chubby phases. :))
And we've come up with a list of names that we are liking. They are on the side-column.
We are having a much easier time coming up with girl's names than boy's names.. :/

But now it is getting late and I am getting that nasty dry-cough.. :/
And Blogger doesn't seem to want to load, so I will add this tomorrow.
Good night!

Saturday, March 17, 2007

Early Morning.

We both woke up around 6 this morning, wide awake.

Fredrik started by vacuuming the hall, etc and then mopped the hall, bathroom, and kitchen. (I guess we have officially started our Spring Cleaning.

Fredrik has been great with keeping the bathrooms clean and using any chemicals so that I don't have to be around it. And Caesar is actually doing his part, too ... In the last 2½ months, he's only used his litter box 2 times. :)

We are trying to waste time, too, until we go into town today (our Saturday ritual of driving the Volvo once a week) to the car place. We went back and forth last night trying to decide if we should get a Saab or BMW. :/ :)
Fredrik got out our Brio stroller catalogue and was trying to figure out dimensions and which type of car would be the better buy.. :/ :)

And a "beautiful" picture of me..! :/ :)

My cold is a bit better. Sneezing less, coughing more, but a bit more energy.

And unfortunately, I have a couple of cavities that really need to be filled (the bad thing about getting pregnant without conciously trying). So we need to contact the dentist and see what he has to say. I've read that if you need to get it done, the 2nd trimester is the time to do it, and we are getting close to that, so we'll see what happens. I can tough it out and do it without the numbing, even though I'm not looking forward to it, but it is more the x-ray that scares me. So, we'll see about that. I've read having bad teeth, is just about as bad as having any work done on your teeth. Dental x-rays use so little radiation now, it is more of a precaution than anything to avoid the x-rays. So, we'll see what the dentist says. :)

10th Week of Pregnancy

What is happening with your baby?
This is the beginning of the fetal period when your baby's organs continue to grow and mature. The majority of his/her vital organs, kidneys, liver, brain, and lungs are functioning, but will continue to mature throughout the remainder of your pregnancy.
Your baby's head makes up half the length of the body, and there is a bulge in the forehead allowing for brain development. Fingernails, toenails, and hair will begin to become visible this week. The fingers are no longer webbed. The baby is actively swallowing amniotic fluid and kicking his legs.

How big is your baby?
Your baby is approximately 2 inches long, about the size of a lime, and weighs about a quarter of an ounce.

10th Week

The fingers and toes are now separated. Tooth buds are beginning to appear, and the sense of taste is developing. Millions of neurons are produced every minute at this stage in your pregnancy. All of the embryo's major systems are present and continue to grow.

Week 10

Congratulations! Your baby is now officially called a "fetus." It looks a little like a medium shrimp, measuring 1.25 to 1.68 inches from crown to rump, and weighing a little less than two-tenths of an ounce. You might be reassured to know that most physical malformations, when they occur, have occurred by the end of this week, so the most critical part of your baby's development is safely behind you. But other developmental processes, such as those affecting behavior and intelligence, will continue throughout pregnancy. Eyes are covered by skin that will eventually split to form eyelids.

Ehhh.. :/

I am very sick.. :/
I can barely talk. Didn't go to school today and the teacher ended up cancelling class for tomorrow.. but Fredrik said I wasn't going to be allowed to go anyways.

I am warm to touch and I've been monitering my temperature but it is actually running slightly below average. I drank all the juice in the house and just called Fredrik and asked him to get some on the way home.

I feel.. okay body wise, except some uncomfiness in my tummy, which could also deal with the less amount of food, more fluids, and delayed intestines. It is mostly in my head.. sneezing ALL the time, but very little coughing, but I can still barely talk. And a bit of a headache that comes and goes. The cat has been laying in his chair, keeping his head pointed to the couch, so I have been well cared for and watched over today. ;)

I'm thinking of sleeping downstairs tonight.. :/ It gets so warm upstairs during the night, maybe I will sleep better down here. :/

And I have some great medicine from the US, but I can't take it. :( It would probably be safer to have a few drinks of whisky.. :/ :) Cough drops and tea will have to do for now. :)

Now I try to nap! And hopefully I'll feel better by tomorrow.. :/ :(

Done!

Done with the National Test. The last test was this morning.
It was.. it wasn't difficult it was just a lot to do in such a short amount of time. We only had 80 minutes to answer about 8-10 pages of short and long questions. Most everyone didn't have enough time, most didn't finish a couple of pages! There was one question that I didn't have time for, but I managed to just write down a little jibberish.. so maybe I will get a point or something.

Each question was worth a different amount, 1-3 points.

And I ended up missing my bus because the test took so long.. so now I have to wait at school for a couple of hours before the next bus comes. :(

And I have a cold.. :/ To make things worse.
I woke up yesterday with a very bad sore throat, which got better during the day, but by the evening I was very sick. Sneezed all night and sent an e-mail warning a friend that I might not come and take the test today. But when I woke up I didn't feel too bad. At least now I know why I have been completely out of energy the last few days. :/ I have no appetite to eat.. :/ But I have to make myself anyways..
Most won't come to school the next 2 days, so I am trying to decide myself if I want to go or not.. :/ Being sick is a good reasoning point.

The weather is just absolutely beautiful! Sunny, blue skies ... I really wanna put out the outdoor furniture. :)

We have to decide what we are going to do this summer since we aren't going to the US. We have some ideas, but nothing definate yet. :)

And I think we've finally figured out what to do about October.
My parents want to be here for the birth, and we definately want them here ... but the window is just a little difficult. They could miss the birth by being here too early or too late ... so the 4 of us have all decided that they won't come over in October, but wait instead and come over in the middle of November and stay until the middle of January. :) That way they will be here with us for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. That way they will get to spend more time with us and the baby and be there for the baby's first Christmas. :)
Perfect plan. :)

1st appointment scheduled.

We have our first Midwife appointment on April 11th .. :/
Seems like so far away. :(
I'll be 14 weeks.
Now we need to see when we can get an ultrasound scheduled for.

No luck.

We went to the Volvo/Ford dealership again today (the third time in like 5 days)..
With worse luck this time than ever.

We took one of the Fords for a test drive and it was nice and we were seriously considering getting it. And we were going to talk to them about getting a hitch thrown in and maybe a winter tire or two (all of that stuff we would have to buy in addition to the price of the car).

He told us how much they would (as an estimate) give us for the car ... and he said 94 000 SEK. But that it would depend on them driving it and checking it over (which of course would mean that they would find stuff "wrong" and give us less..). I laughed at that point.. especially since the dealer on Saturday said they would give us 104 000 SEK for the car....... And then we left.
So we are tired of the Volvo people.

Fredrik had talked to someone at work about buying a car and he recommend a Saab place in town that is very decent. Fredrik went there during work hours and talked to them. So, I think we are thinking about going with them instead. Fredrik told him what we were looking for and they are going to look for a car for us and they said they would take our Volvo from us. And if we end up finding a Saab that we like, they will transport it to the store for us. They seem very interested in doing business and not only making a profit.

So, maybe we'll end up with a Saab. We'll see what happens! :)
But eventually we will end up with a bigger car for the baby! :)

Still not sure.

We're still not sure what we want to do.. :/
We have both decided that we want the car, we just need a little more time maybe. :/ But we have decided that we will go back tomorrow after Fredrik picks me up from school and we'll take one for a test drive. And maybe that will help us decide.

I've been feeling okay. :) Just hungry and tired like always.
I've learned that if I eat something, anything every 2-3 hours, then I am better throughout the day and not as tired and drained of energy. I take stuff to school and munch on raisin boxes, fruit, or a muffin or something and that has been helping me this past week.

And my parents sent me some pre-natal vitamins! And I am hoping that those will help me with more energy and not being so tired.

We've received 2 pregnancy care-boxes from my parents now. :) Some maternity clothes (for future use), vitamins, our favorite candy from the US, some cocoa butter lotions and massage oils, and some cheetos for Fredrik. :)

It was a little scary, though ... my GYN said that I didn't need any prenatal vitamins.. :/ Just folic acid.. :/ Maybe it isn't a Swedish thing to take prenatal vitamins, but I think it is very important. We hunted and hunted for them in pharmacies everywhere here, but we came up with nothing, so I took some iron and Vitamin C tabletts until I received the ones from my parents.

We haven't been able to get ahold of the barnmorska (midwife) office ... Been calling like mad, but no one seems to be answering the phone. I really want to get in for another appointment and I really wanna have another ultrasound. I know it is common and normal but I'm going through a horrible period of worrying about something being wrong with the baby. :/ Birth defects and all that stuff.. :/
I'm hoping that some of my worrying will go away after the 12 weeks, when the risk of miscarrage drops. But I want another ultrasound just to see and make sure the the baby has grown appropriately... :/

I made waffles this morning. :) Very yummy.
Even though we don't eat it extremely often, I am getting a distaste for some fish.. :/
Still no food cravings, and no nausia or vomiting.
Some back pains which gets worse when I have my bookbag, and some very low abdominal pain, which might be from my slowed-down digestion..

Fredrik has an interview on Wednesday, March 28th. We are anxious about that as well. Holding our thumbs and crossing our fingers.

Work is going well for Fredrik ... just very, very busy.. He's doing the work of at least 2 people.. His name is under 7 different projects.. :/ His salary meeting should be coming up sometime this month. Maybe pushed back a bit because his district boss's father-in-law died.. so he hasn't been to work in awhile.

School is going well for me. The oral part of the test is continuously going on. The essay part is finished. And on Wednesday this week we have the reading part where you have to answer questions. Which to me looks like the most difficult part --- Easy to read a text and understand the innehållet....... ehh.... content but a poem is a little more difficult. :/ It is about 10 pages of short stories and poems and tons of questions about them.

I had my datorkunskåp (computer knowledge) test on Wednesday last week and received an MVG (highest grade) on that. I skipped my medicine test! :/ :D Not sure the teacher will be too happy about that.. but I'm not ready, and a little behind the class (since I am taking it flexible, it doesn't really matter anyways).. but the teacher is a little weird. :/

It is definately Spring here! The snow melted away by the beginning of last week. And it has been 10-12ºC (50-54ºF) all weekend. The sun is shining, the air is cool (but not cold) and we have Spring flowers blooming in the yard!

On Saturday, Fredrik and I went into town, and bought a baby book! :) A Classic Winnie the Pooh babybook:
http://bokia.adlibris.com/se/product.aspx?isbn=9163842572&so=1
Although it was much more expensive at Åhléns.. :/ :) But it is very nice.

I've had a little trouble sleeping the last few nights.. :/
I usually get very warm during the night and sweat lots, but that hasn't been happening the last few nights, but I've been having a horrible time falling asleep (once I get into bed - on the couch is a different matter).

The Ark is going to the Eurovision Final in Finland.. :/ Not sure how well they will do. Sarah Dawn Finer was my favorite, and then Måns after that.

I've made 2 baby registries on the Internet, I'll try to get those on here soon.

Maybe that is enough for now. :/ :) I'm sure I've missed something but I'm getting tired and I wanna do some school work before I fall asleep on the couch. :)

Car hunting.

We took the Volvo out for a drive yesterday and decided to wash the car. While we were waiting in the long line we decided to go car hunting. Fredrik's work mates have definately said we need to get a bigger car. :( (We really like our car.)

First we went to Skoda and they have some new nice 2007s. And then we decided to go back to the Volvo dealership (we went last week, too) and look at the used cars and check out the Fords, too. We went there and they have some new 2007 Fords for a very, very good price: 60 000 SEK off the original price (~10 000$).

We asked the Volvo dealer how much they would give us for our Volvo for a trade-in. And it was 20 000 SEK (~3 000$) less then the amount the Skoda dealer said..! So, we are going to sell the Volvo ourselves no matter what.

But now we can't decide if we should go ahead and take the good deal on the 2007 Ford Mondeo and have the extra room for moving stuff back and forth (have a hitch put on the car, too, before we take it home) or just wait. And Fredrik said it won't fit in our tiny garage here, and I said that that would be okay, because if we move, we can use the garage to store packed boxes! And anything bigger than our Volvo now won't fit in the garage anyways...
We have plenty of time before the baby shows up to buy any kind of bigger car. But we would really like to buy a new car and this is a really good deal. And if we end up moving, we would end up with NO loans to getting 2 loans at the same time.

I think that I want to go ahead and put our car up for sale and reserve one of the Fords, but I think Fredrik is a little hesitant and wants to wait.. although I'm not sure why. :/ Cause whether we move or not, we still need to get a bigger car.. And who knows how long the Fords will be an option.
Fredrik definately prefers the Ford over the Skoda, but if we miss the deal, then we could end up with the Skoda anyways.
Hmmmm....
Decisions.. :/

More later today.

Cute.

I made this awhile back, when I must have been very bored:

http://artpad.art.com/?ip2jnc1fk8gk

Fredrik complained about it though: because his helmet isn't yellow, it is white. Because he is a white-collar worker, a boss, so he has a white helmet. And anyways the other helmets are blue. Blah blah blah..

*sigh* :)

9 weeks.

The embryo can make tiny movements at this point, consisting of muscle contractions or unconscious reflexes. From crown to rump, the embryo measures approximately 1 inch long.

The embryo measures about 0.9 inches to 1.2 inches from crown to rump, or the size of a strawberry. The arms and legs are longer, and the fingers might be a little swollen where the touch pads are forming. The head is more erect and neck is more developed. Your baby now moves its body and limbs, and this movement can be visible during an ultrasound, but you won't be able to feel it yet.

Stockholm.

Freddan is in Stockholm today, he'll be getting home later this evening.
We're patiently waiting to hear about the job he applied for.. or maybe impatiently is more accurate. :/ :)

A few days after my first doctor's appointment, I started a cute little blanket and worked on it for awhile, but I've been so busy the last month I haven't even been able to look at it. So, I'm anxious for summer, to rest and enjoy our last summer with just the two of us. :)

Very anxious to see how the cat reacts to a child. :) He's never been around anyone besides adults. (He watches the neighborhood children at a safe distance..) So it will be interesting to see him locked in a house (or car!) with a screaming, crying baby.. :/ :)

Here is the bassinet that we are intersted in:

[Click for larger view.]

Very adorable. It has music, different sounds (like the ocean, etc), it vibrates, and rocks. :) From the US of course. :)

I've had lots of dreams the last couple of months, and all but one time was the baby a girl. And Fredrik has had only one dream, and it was a girl. So, I think we are thinking it will be a girl. But we don't really care. :)

My niece has two little girls and she is collecting their clothes that they've outgrown and she is going to send the stuff to us. :) Very sweet. :)

I really wanna go shopping for stuff, but it is very, very early yet for any of that. And we definately don't need more things to pack if we are going to be moving within the next couple of months.

Time to hang up some wet sheets. :)

8th Week of Pregnancy

What is happening with your baby?
Everything that is present in an adult human is now present in the small embryo. The ears are continuing to form externally and internally. The bones are beginning to form, and the muscles can contract. Fingers and toes are webbed but are growing longer.
The facial features continue to mature. The tip of the nose is present and the eyelids are now more developed. The embryonic tail is also disappearing, and your baby's body is beginning to straighten out.
While your baby's gender has already been determined, the external genitals are still forming and cannot be clearly seen. The embryo is at the end of the embryonic period and begins the fetal period.

How big is your baby?
The embryo is about 1 inch long and is approximately the size of a bean.

8th Week.

Your embryo, now about in its sixth week of development, is about the size of a grape -- 0.56 to 0.8 inches from crown to rump. Eyelid folds and ears are forming and even the tip of the nose is visible. The arms have grown longer and bend at the elbows. Places where fingers and toes eventually will grow are becoming notched.

Hungry!

I am hungry ALL THE TIME! I can't take it anymore. :/ :))

The nausia comes and goes, usually by week, and this week it hasn't bothered me at all. And I haven't vomited once! (And I wouldn't mind it staying that way.) ;)

I have to have 2 breakfasts. (A few hours apart.) And then I am usually better the rest of the day. I'm trying to eat well, at least, so all the weight that I've lost doesn't come back on. :/ :) The scales keep going up and down, so I don't really trust them right now, but I might have gained a pound or two (1 kilo) the last 2 months. Which isn't too bad I suppose. (But that was also sitting at home from my school break and not wanting to go outside in the nasty weather. - Now with school I don't have a choice.) But at least the snow started melting a little today!

Even with all the eating and aches and annoyances from the first few months, I have still managed to do well in school! A "VG" (2nd highest grade) on my grammar test, and a "VG" on my "uppsats" (essay test) in Swedish. So, I am pleased with that.
But the National Test starts tomorrow. (And besides that I need to fit in a computer test and medicine test for my flexible classes, within the next couple of weeks.) The National Test will take 3 weeks to get through. It is the same National test that Swedish nationals take, a 9th grade proficiency test. So, wish me luck!
I'm not looking forward to the stress and anxiety, and sitting so much..

Pappa is doing well. :)
Still haven't bought anything for the baby. :)
Although we've found an adorable bassinet, and we might be ordering that soon. :o)
Fredrik hasn't started any of the sympathy-eating. :)
I haven't had any food cravings, though, which is a little disappointing. :D I was looking forward to the ice cream craving. ;) Maybe it will show up during summer. I have craved a little I guess for fatty-foods, very fatty-foods, like fast food. And I don't really care for fast food, so I think that is a little odd.. :/ (Now I am making myself hungry..) :/

Almost 2 months now... and so far to go. :/ :)
Looking forward to the summer, and a possible new home.. even though I will really miss my friends here. :( C'est la vie.

I should work on some school work before Fredrik is finished with work (the development of the skeleton from birth to adulthood). (I'm at school - waiting for my sweetie to come pick me up and take me home.)

More soon!

Week 7.

Your embryo makes great strides in size this week, growing to between 0.44 inches and 0.52 inches from crown to rump by the end of the week, or about the size of a small raspberry. Leg buds are starting to look like short fins, and hands and feet have a digital plate where fingers and toes will develop. The heart and lungs are becoming more developed, as are the eyes and nostrils, intestines and appendix. By now the brain and spinal cord are growing from the neural tube.
