1st Ultrasound picture.

[Click the picture for a larger view.]

Not that much to see.. :)

But the black blob in the bottom left hand corner is where to be looking. The white oval shape at the top of the black blob is the baby. :) The head is on the upper-right side, and the body is the rest.

(And the name on the ultrasound is not my doctor. :/ :) For some reason it has someone elses name, my doctor's name is.. Anders something or other..)

We have definately discussed names.
A few weeks after we met (yes, that soon), we decided on Sebastian for a boy and Kajsa for a girl. :)
(Sebastian Fredrik, or Kajsa Astrid.)

But now Fredrik is worried about Kajsa rhyming with "bajsa" (for those of you: "bajsa" means "poo" in Swedish). So, now he is more interested in the name "Freja" for a girl. :)
There are plenty of names we like, so we'll see what we end up with in the end. :)

7th Week of Pregnancy

What is happening with your baby?
At this point every essential organ has begun to form in the embryo's tiny body. The hair and nipple follicles are forming, and the eyelids and tongue have begun formation. The elbows and toes are more visible as the trunk begins to straighten out.

How big is your baby?
Your baby is approximately ¾ of an inch long by the end of this week and weighs less than an aspirin.

2nd Appointment.

We're not as far along as we thought we were. :( :)

The appointment went well and the doctor and I both saw the heartbeat. :) And he gave us our first ultrasound picture, which is just a blob. :) I'll try to get that on here.

He said that the baby is only 4mm (about 1/4 of an inch?), and said that I should be 6 weeks along. (I looked online and 4mm is the smallest average size for being 6 weeks along.) He did say that it might be a small baby.
So, right now, we are btwn 6 and 7 weeks (6 weeks and 6 days).
And the due date has been pushed back a week to October 13th.

The doctor was very pleased with how much the baby has grown. The first appointment, nothing was visible, and now it was very clearly visible. He says the baby has grown appropriately in size and looks very healthy.

The GYN's midwives don't know English (just easier to do everything in English - and most doctors love practising), so he told me to just make an appointment with the local Vårdcentralen (local hospital). Once I get a new appointment date, I'll post it here.

8 Weeks.

Yesterday was the beginning of the 8th week. And today we have our 2nd GYN appointment. I'm going to a private doctor and the doctor has his own midwives that work for him, so we think we are going to be very pleased with the doctor visits. Fredrik has to go to Gnesta today (and possibly Örebro the rest of the week), but he is leaving early so he can meet me at the doctor's office. We're hoping to see a heartbeat today and then we can decide on when to share our news with the rest of our friends and family!

Fredrik has been doing such a great job helping out. :)
Keeping the water pitchers filled and in the fridge and always bringing me water, especially when I fall asleep in the couch - he has water waiting for me by the bed for when I wake up to move into the bedroom. :) And he carries all the awkward, heavy stuff up and down the stairs. :) I'm still sleeping lots: 10-12 hours a night, which doesn't leave much time to get things done, especially lots of school work and studying.

It has been very difficult for us to concentrate on school and work, not only because of the baby, but with anxiety and hope for the possible move to Åmål or Bengtsfors. We've been looking for houses, but trying to not get our hopes up too much, so that we won't be crushed if nothing works out.

Sportlov ("spring break") this week, so plenty of rest for me, including a fika visit with a girlfriend on Wednesday, who is 5 months pregnant.

This past Saturday, we went looking for baby furniture and have narrowed the strollers down to a Brio or Emmaljunga (leaning towards the Brio).

(Click on them for larger views.)

Not exactly these, but something very similar. Definately not buying anything this early, but deciding on what we like, so we can keep an eye on everything incase it goes on sale!
More info tonight, after the appointment!

6th & 7th Weeks

Week 6
The head is developing distinguishing features, with eyes and ears appearing. Organs are forming inside the body and hands and feet buds are developing.

Week 7
There are changes in the embryo's body, face and limbs. The digestive tract is beginning to form. Tiny nostrils begin to appear and eye pigment is developing. The lungs are developing, while the umbilical cord is growing into place and the placenta matures.

The Second Month

Your baby's facial features continue to develop. Each ear begins as a little fold of skin at the side of the head. Tiny buds that eventually grow into arms and legs are forming. Fingers, toes and eyes are also forming.

The neural tube (brain, spinal cord and other neural tissue of the central nervous system) is well formed. The digestive tract and sensory organs begin to develop. Bone starts to replace cartilage. The embryo begins movement although the mother can not yet feel it.

By the end of the second month, your baby, now a fetus, is about 1 inch long, weighs about 1/3 ounce, and is virtually all head (1/3 of its body is head).

6 Weeks

We're Pregnant!!! :D

We are very surprised and excited. :)
Not very planned but very well received!

Conceived in the middle of January, about 6 weeks pregnant now, baby should show up around October 6th.

Today we had our first doctors appointment. I was up for my annual GYN exam, and Fredrik called them and said that we think we are pregnant and so they moved up the appointment a week so I could get in to see the doctor. He confirmed the pregnancy and said everything looked okay (from the little he could make out). I have an appointment in 2 weeks, February 19th at 8 weeks, to make sure everything is okay.

Let's hope for a healthy and happy baby!
